I just hope that shifting from identities linked to an ethnic group or religious affiliation identity to those linked to a country don't simply mean a change of unit - with conflicts between countries taking the place of those over other forms of identities. In that sense a more developed 'African' identity sounds good, but it is not clear what this will mean in practice.
